Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Greetings from the World Allergy Organization!
I am very delighted to share with you that this month the first global allergy conference on Severe Allergies and Asthma in India, the 2nd WAO International Scientific Conference (WISC 2012), was an enormous success from various perspectives. WISC 2012 was held under the Patronage of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and took place in Hyderabad, India from 6-9 December. Over 1,000 delegates from 70 countries participated in the scientific program delivered by 90 top speakers in allergies and asthma from around the world.
The Conference Opening Ceremony was held on 6th December, and the conference was inaugurated by the Honorable Union Minister of Health, presided over by the Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and attended by several Ministers and dignitaries. Congratulatory messages were given by the Honorable President and Honorable Prime Minister of India.
WAO is dedicated to providing education and training opportunities to physicians worldwide and supporting their efforts to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients with asthma and allergic diseases. I am grateful to the delegates who participated in the program and benefitted from this educational opportunity. I hope all of you found it to be a rewarding experience.
The Scientific Program Committee developed an outstanding program on Severe Allergies, Severe Asthma: new Strategies for Optimal Treatment and Prevention. We thank our esteemed Faculty for their valuable contribution that forms the core of the conference. The success of WISC 2012 was also due to the tireless efforts, the teamwork and collegiality of a number of people: the Conference Chair, Scientific Chair, the Executive Committee, the entire WAO Board of Directors, the Scientific Committee, the Regional Chairs, the Local Organizing and Advisory Committees, Regional Advisory Board, our Collaborating Societies and our many Member Societies. Most important were the dedication, commitment and professionalism of the WAO staff that tirelessly and efficiently took care of all the logistics of the conference. I believe the success was a result of excellent teamwork, collegiality and dedication. I take this opportunity to thank all who contributed to the success of WISC 2012. EAACI-WAO World Allergy and Asthma Congress 2013
As one meeting comes to an end, we are already looking forward to the next year and our exciting partnership with the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI). Our 2013 Joint congress, the EAAACI-WAO World Allergy Asthma Congress will be held in Milan, Italy from 22-26 June 2013. Registration and abstract submission are now open and first deadlines are soon approaching - make sure you do not miss this opportunity to attend this very important and ground-breaking Congress!

WAO Activities
This year WAO has accomplished several activities that lead to the fulfilling of its mission via the hard work of the WAO Board of Directors, the various committees and councils and collaborations with member societies. I am deeply grateful to all and look forward to a more activity in the coming year leading to greater and meaningful contribution to our specialty and to our patients.
